    Pole dancing

I walked into the pet store and saw this exotic parrot. It was perched up on this pole in the corner. I watched it play with this rope toy it had. It was quite the colorful little bird. The bird then dropped the rope toy it was playing with and started to have a conversation with one of the children that had been watching it. www.pole-dance-fitness.com

Teach Music with Sing-Along and Animal Toys

Help your child learn about tempo as you keep time with their favorite stuffed animal toys. Tempo is the speed at which a song is sung or played.  It helps set a mood.  Your kid will learn to appreciate that slow songs can make you feel calm and peaceful, while fast songs can help energize your spirits.

Here is a fun-filled activity that you will surely enjoy with your kid and help you teach the subject.

    1. Ask your child to select a stuffed animal for each of you.  Then find an area to sit down and cradle your toy.  Suggest to your youngster that it’s time to wake up our sleeping friends by singing to them.  Explain that singing a slow, gentle song such as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” is a proper way to wake up our pets as it won’t startle them.  We don’t want them to be grumpy when they wake up.

    2. Instruct your child to slowly sway and move to the music as she sings the words.  Then tell your child, “They’re waking up!  The animals are waking up!”

    3. Next, ask your kid to sing a faster “up-tempo” song.  ”Bingo” is a fun one, or you may still use “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and just pick up the pace.  Do more songs with different speeds and let your child decide what her stuffed animal wants to do with the music – a rabbit may want to hop, skip and jump; a parrot may wish to flap its wings, a purple dinosaur may stomp its feet or a dog may like to wag its tail.

It’s fun to sing songs with your young ones at a slow pace, then a fast pace.  And let them decide how they want to move to the music with their animal pals.

    question about Budgies?

Question by Magic Man: question about Budgies?
I am wanting to get a bird, one that isn’t to big nor too small (the size of a budgie, conure, or quaker). I was wondering if a budgie will be able to mimic me and talk to me… simple words such as hello hi say it’s own name and so forth. i also want an energetic bird that isn’t too loud and that will like everyone. Are budgies good pets for a first bird owner that like to “cuddle” and sing and play and talk to me? I understand not all birds can talk and will still love the bird if it can’t talk. I have done lots of research. i was also wondering what size cage i should purchase and the type of toys the bird will enjoy most (personal experience with your own bird) Please help! ooh! i will also play with my birdie alot and i was wondering if they make big, hard to clean messes because it will be kept in my room!

I’ve owned parakeets since I was 7. Mine have never learned to talk, but they have learned how to make certain whistle noises that I do. It is possible to teach them to talk if you are around them all the time and you only have one, for if you have two, they will pay more attention to each other than you. It’ll take a lot of time and patience, I would assume. Budgies are timid by nature. I’ve only had one parakeet that would interact with people. We trained him with Dorito’s and chips. Haha….but he died of Dorito overload. He got to the point where that was all that he would eat… But yes, budgies will interact with you, so long as you give them no reason to fear you. You can try to train it with some millet spray. They love those things. (Bird treat). Best way to do that is make sure they only get the millet spray if they eat it from your hand. It’s been working with my sir-scardie-a-lot bird Frootloop. He’s sorta warming up to me now.
Things to remember are to be slow in your actions, for they dislike sudden movements and will fly away, thinking they are in danger. Always use a soothing, calm voice, never a loud, booming one. NEVER hit your bird, even if it bites you, for it will only fear you then. And don’t jerk away, either. Instead, leave your finger there for a few seconds, THEN take it away SLOWLY. Otherwise, they’ll get it in their head that in order for you to do what they want (go away) is to bite you. If you keep your finger there, that connection won’t click in their fragile little minds.
It’s best to start off with the bird’s wing feathers clipped. That way, they’ll realize they can’t easily get away from you at moments notice, and get used to the idea of being around you. After they get to know you, then you can let it start learning to fly.
Budgies can never be ‘potty trained’, but their poop is small. So it’s not TOO big of a deal, unless you let it accumulate. Bird feathers get everywhere. And bird food tends to manage to get spread all over the room, too, although I’ve never managed to figure that one out…
You might get annoyed with your parakeet in the morning, for they have a nasty habit of continually chirping and squawking and not shutting up at the first crack of light, no matter WHAT you do. So get used to waking up earlier than usual haha.
My bird cage…I have no idea what size it is. It might be an 18x24x24…something like that. It gives them tons of room to hop around if they so desire. The cage size really doesn’t matter too much in my opinion, so long as they have room to hop around in it and not be cramped you should be fine. They like perches higher up in the cage, not close to the ground, for remember, they originally come from the wild; they are cautious and believe that being close to the ground, they can be attacked by ground predators. Be sure to have your cage a decent height off the ground as well.
Type of toys? If you only have one bird, a mirror will suit it well, for they DO get lonely. Maybe add a few bells (my bird Jaide whom has recently passed loved bells). The type of toys really depends on what your bird likes. You’ll have to go through trial and error. Sorry.
Be sure to have a mineral block and a cuddle bone in the cage. You said you did your research on budgies, so I’m going to take your word for it and not leave you with a big lecture haha.
Other than that, lots of luck to you and your new feathered friend!

How To Make Homemade Bird Treats

Here’s an easy recipe for homemade bird treats. 2 cups of crushed Cheerios 2 cups of seed mixture (or pellets) 1 cup of honey Mix the ingredients together until you have a thick consistency. Press the mixture onto a baking pan and put it in the oven at 250 degrees for an hour. Let it cool. The consistency should be stiff enough to roll into balls. After shaping, put them back in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes to 1 hour to harden the treats. Music: “City of Angels” and “The Unfeeling Kiss” by Gabriel Yared

ringneck parrots and colored popsickle sticks?

Question by expl0$ !ve: ringneck parrots and colored popsickle sticks?
can our indian ring neck parrot have colored Popsicle sticks we use them to make toys and he chews them we noticed he dips them in his water turning it colors and his feet and tongue is this harmful?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Yogi T
If the coloring is certified food coloring it is probably okay. Why bother with coloring unless you like messy looking birds? My birds get plain colored sticks to play with. They don’t care just as a dog doesn’t care if his treat is shaped like a bone.

    Bird Watching in Peru

Peru has more bird species than North America and Europe combined. Travelers that leave their homeland can discover more birds than they ever realized existed, including about 150 Peruvian endemic species. For bird enthusiasts, Peru is truly a paradise. The dynamic nation’s scenic landscapes are teeming with fascinating wildlife.

Imagine waking up in a beautiful tropical jungle to the noise of thousands of parrots and macaws. Visualize seeing an Andean Cock-of-the-Rock at the stunning Incan citadel of Machu Picchu. Picture yourself having a close encounter with a massive Andean Condor in the jaw-dropping Colca Canyon. All of this and more is possible during a Peru vacation.

The famous American field ornithologist, Theodore Parker III, once said “Peru offers bird enthusiasts more than any other country in the world” and that he felt like “a child visiting a huge store filled with new and fascinating toys.” You will understand these bold statements during a bird watching tour in Peru.

The Amazon is one of the most amazing destinations to bird watch. Home to roughly one-third of the world’s birds, the largest rainforest in the world also houses many of the world’s rarest birds. In the Amazon nature enthusiasts have the opportunity to get lucky and spot a Spix macaw, a beautiful bird with a dark blue head, blue body, greenish belly, black face and bright yellow eyes. If not, at least you have over 1500 other bird species to see and photograph, include macaws that gather by the hundreds along the clay cliffs of the Amazon river. The Amazon rainforest is one of the most important ecological environments on earth. Yet, humanity continues to destroy the precious natural resources acre by acre. It is idealistic to think there will be a stop to the harmful acts; however, you should plan a birding trip before it is too late.
