Bring out the Jungle in Your Bird.

This bird toy will definitely bring out the “Jungle” in your feathered friend.

I named this toy after a friend’s African Grey named Sheena. He told me Sheena is very, very picky and does not like many bird toys. He said “if she plays with this then you know you have a winner.” Well….she loved it! So, I decided to name the toy in her honor.

This is a great bird toy for wood chewers of the experienced type or for those who are just starting out and finding their “inner chew” for the first time.

Toy contains wood chews, jumbo beads and tropical tubes. Strung on super safe Poly Rope with a small amount of chain from top of toy to the base.

Is it really expensive to own an African Grey?

    Category: Forum

Question by swelch15: Is it really expensive to own an African Grey?
I’ve heard that it’s pretty costly to own an African Grey, but I’ve been looking in to adopting one, which will come with cage, toys, etc., but how expensive is it for food and all? And do they get loud? My next door neighbor is kinda cranky, and would probably call the cops, she’s done it before when we had my old sun conure. Would they do alright with two dogs in the house? Just looking for general information on the birds. Thanks.

Not expensive to own once you have the cage and accessories. I use pelleted food, which runs about $ 12.00 a bag and lasts a couple of months. Also she gets a small scoop of a good parrot seed mix daily, and that’s not expensive either. You’ll want to buy toys to keep her interested, and regular grooming visits (maybe 2-3 times a year) for nail and wing trims. They are not screamers like other parrots, but can learn to imitate any sound!

    African grey parrot care

Do African greys make good pets? If you ask me, then I would say yes. African grey parrot has a wonderful character, high intelligence and great charm. It has the ability to mimic different sounds and putting their sounds into the right context. So it is really a wonderful bird. There are basically two sub species of African greys parrot, the Congo and the Timneh. The Congo is slightly larger than Timneh. It also has red tail feathers. The Timnehs are more laid back and less prone to feather picking than the Congo species.

These kind of parrots live from 25 to 50 years. It all depends on their lifestyle, stress factors, and diseases. To make your parrot live happier and longer, you need to treat it well. You need to give a lot of patience and attention, since they are known for biting and feather picking when they are bored or get stress.

Before buying this bird you should think whether your life style is compatible with it. They are quite demanding pets, and needs a lot of attention. You should also get a written guarantee of its age if it is possible. Don’t forget to make a question list before you buy from the breeder so you won’t miss an important information about taking care of your future pet. Try talking to the breeder to give you an idea how it has been treated in the past.

Here are some tips for taking care your parrot. First you need to know the species of your parrot because it will gives you better guidelines for taking care of it. The most important thing to do is to provide it with basic needs like healthy and regular food, clean and comfort cage, a wide range of toys, and a good T-stand.

He’s not picking his feathers, but he’s quiet as of the last couple of weeks, where he was talkative. He’s eating/drinking. How can I tell if he’s stress? He has alot of foot and hanging toys.

Why is my African Gray Parrot regurgitating food and stuffing it in a toy?

    Category: Forum

Question by FreeWilly: Why is my African Gray Parrot regurgitating food and stuffing it in a toy?
My African Gray is 9 years old I don’t know the sex of it. The last week it has been playing with his toy in very unusual ways like rolling it and trying to sit on it and carrying it.

    Answer by anon..
Sounds like nesting behaviour. Birds regurgitate food to feed to their young, and the rolling and sitting sound like she has decided that the toy is her baby.
